1. Mentos UP2U Chillax Mint and Energy Strike
Amount: 14 sticks (7 of each flavor)
Sweetener: Artificial
Anyone else noticing a trend of energy gums lately?? This combination reminds me of 5’s RPM series, but with caffeine in the energy gum. There’s even arrows to represent the relaxing mint and the recharging flavor. I guess this would be nice for someone that needs that burst of energy.
"Energy and persistence conquer all things." -Benjamin Franklin
Energy strike is bright yellow and green, and reminds me of energy. In the first couple of chews it tastes like mint and citrus are fighting it out for supremacy. The citrus flavor wins out. It’s lemon-lime with the faintest of hints of mint. It’s not bad at all. It doesn’t taste like an energy drink like 5 RPM Fruit. The flavor fades away quicker than I would like and then tastes muddled since the mint and cooling sensation are rising, but are not really getting anywhere. The gum stays soft for a good chew.
Chillax Mint… Can I say something before we start? What is up with the word “chillax”? I realize it’s “chill” and “relax”, but really? On your gum pack you use it? Are you trying to look hip to the young crowd? They do not need this, especially when they turn in papers in text speak. Let’s use real words, pull out a thesaurus, and bring up the intelligence of the population. Okay, with that rant out of the way I will talk about the gum. The gum is a nice soft green and blue and has a crunch to it, at first, from crystals. The mint has a simple taste, it might be a mixture of peppermint and spearmint. It’s not covered up by too much sweetness, but at the same time, it’s not harsh. I think the 5 RPM mint is more relaxing, it’s smoother than this flavor. This gum is so soft and nice to chew!
This is a decent set of flavors. I wouldn’t mix them, these are really meant to be separate, but don’t let me stop you if you want to try that out!
