Trident Layers Limited Edition Candy Cane
Location Purchased: Target
I stopped dead in my tracks yesterday at work. On a sidecap, out of nowhere, not even close to anything remotely candy, was this gem!! I automatically grabbed it, felt excitement and Christmas fuzzies, and bought it! It’s EVERYTHING I love in an impulse buy!
I’m unsure if we will see this in a single pack since it’s just a limited edition, but it seems that when I see a three pack like this I find single packs about a month-ish later in drug stores. Check the seasonal areas for this one!
Let me also apologize for the pictures, I’m working late at my other job and it’s always dark when I get home!
Trident Layers is keeping true to its package design, a simple white package and one major color to cover the rest of the package. You are greeted with some holiday goodness in the form of a candy cane design on the side and when you open the package, there’s also snowflakes on the plastic wrappers around the gum packages. There’s 14 sugar free pieces of gum in each pack. The gum is red on the candy cane portion, and white on the spearmint. I feel that they missed a chance to make this red and green, but the red and white are the colors of a candy cane so I can’t seriously be disappointed!
The 3 pack faintly smells of peppermint before you even open it! You can really get a whiff once you unleash it from all that plastic! The white layer of the gum tastes of the sweeter part of a candy cane, while the red layers are the basic mint. It’s not a perfect candy cane, but it’s a candy minty good time. The flavor lasts and lasts. The texture and consistency are fine once you get it all mixed together and the gooey layer dissolves.
I still am not a huge fan of this middle gooey layer. When it dissolves it leaves you with less gum. I kept grabbing two pieces to make a good wad. I do love the minty flavor!
