Meiji Gum Assortment Pack
Location Purchased: Mitsuwa Marketplace
Five packages of fun gum with adorable mascots on them. On the inside tab, each has a different hand for jan ken pow (rock, paper, scissors). Everything is in Japanese.
The gum starts off rather power-like, both in texture and in taste. The grape is like purple grape juice, it has that little kick to it. The potent flavor fades quickly, but does not totally disappear. This gum is a little harder compared to the others once it stops acting like powder, but still has great chewing potential.
Comes with four giant pieces inside, they are the size of the bulkier tablet gum that you find in slide packs. The gum has a thin coating that gives a light crunch that keeps happening for quite a few chews. The flavor is a green apple, not really sour, just tangy. The flavor lasts decently for a sugar gum and has great consistency.
It whistles!! Place it in your mouth, like the character on the package and blow!! It’s fun, but only lasts for so long, saliva gets in the way. The first bite is hard, I thought it was candy! It’s a crunch reminiscent of candy necklaces. A couple more chews and it starts to soften and collect to become a wad of banana gum, that tastes like banana candy necklace. The gum gets harder and funky to chew. It’s much more like sugar gumballs from here.
Green is melon, yellow is lemon, orange is orange, pink is strawberry, unsure of white- not coconut, maybe lychee? pineapple? soda? The flavor, when combined, becomes tropical. The gum is AMAZING for chewing, it doesn’t get hard like other gums that we find in this way in America.
This one is like they chopped up a long piece of gum into little pieces. I believe that the middle is the “fizzy” portion. I think it tastes like ramune, the friend that had the other piece says “window cleaner”. It definitely packs a bit of a punch. The gum gets harder as you chew, not as good for marathoning.
This is a novel pack of gum! I enjoyed the experience and hope I can find more of these types in the future! Japanese gum is pretty good!
